The games industry is set to introduce a "traffic lights" style ratings system on to the cover of video games.
In a move that acknowledges the current PEGI system is difficult to understand, it is hoped the green, orange and red symbols on packaging will be easily recognisable and understood at a glance.
"The industry has responded to observations made by Dr Tanya Byron in her report that there is a lack of consumer awareness of the PEGI rating symbols," said ELSPA in a statement.
"The industry feels that by employing a traffic light system that is simple to understand it will be effective in combating any confusion previously felt by consumers."
As yet, ELSPA has not announced when we will begin to see the symbols on video games, or if it will replace or complement the current PEGI imagery.
We'll keep you updated with any news on this new system.
