TV chef Jamie Oliver is using MySpace in an attempt to "seed cooking knowledge to a whole new audience".

Some of his new recipes, in a "minibook", as well as video demonstrations and blog postings are now on the social networking site as part of his "Pass It On" campaign.

Jamie Oliver, who has 5154 "friends" on the site said: "The whole ethos behind the Ministry of Food is to make cooking easy, accessible and to pass on what we learn to as many people as possible".

"By giving away some of the key recipes from the book to the MySpace community, I'm reaching a potential audience of over 100m people - hopefully it will inspire everyone to get talking and get cooking."
