In the latest Pocket-lint reader poll, we decided to take a look at the shopping habits of our tech-loving readership.

When asked "Will you be buying gadgets in the January Sales?", 64% of the Pocket-lint readership said yes with just 36% saying no.

The January Sales, which started this year on Boxing Day, are a good time to pick up some tech bargains, with many retailers cutting prices on a huge range of gadgetry.

And it seems that this year the British public are particularly keen for a bargain with Reuters reporting shopper numbers up by a quarter compared to Boxing Day 2006. Figures from the Retail Footfall Index showed a rise in shopper traffic of 25.1%.

Analyst Martin Davies, from data tracker Experian, owner of the Footfall Index, said Boxing Day had become more of a shopping day in Britain than in previous years.

"Many retailers launched their official January sales a day early and succeeded in drawing shoppers out of their homes and onto the High Street."
