Medion has launched a budget multimedia PC, the Medion 6486,­ a desktop computer based on the latest Intel VIIV Core 2 Duo technology and featuring Windows Vista Home Premium edition.

Following the laptop recently announced for Sainsbury, the PC will be available in larger Tesco stores nationwide and also online.

The 6486 has an NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT DirectX 10 graphics card with DVI-I connector and HDMI port (with HDCP decoding), so can cope with Vista's graphics demands.

With the addition of 2GB of RAM and a 500GB SATA hard disk, it also comes equipped with memory and storage for audio and video purposes.

The Medion 6486 PC comes with a Freeview DVB-T/analogue TV tuner card with MCE remote control, eight channel surround sound audio on board and dual-layer LightScribe DVD-RW + DVDROM so users can benefit from the Media Centre features in Vista.

It also comes with a wireless multimedia keyboard and wireless, rechargeable mouse as well as wireless LAN 802.11b/g and an integrated 8-in-1 front memory card reader.

As well as Vista, there is some Tesco Software included ­ Tesco Easy Record, Tesco Internet Security, Tesco PhotoRestyler, Tesco Complete Office, Tesco Personal Finance and Tesco PhotoBook Creator.
