If you're shrinking your Carbon Footprint then a whitepaper may help you cut more to be much more environmentally friendly.

It has been suggested a new device is to be given to every household to monitor their energy usage. As a part of the upcoming Energy White Paper, England is hoping that the real-time monitors "will help cut greenhouse gas emissions and the amount of energy wasted by appliances being left on standby".

The devices are supposed to give residents a quick look at just how much energy is being wasted by leaving the hallway light on, powering the kettle or how you’re saving from using renewable energy. It also allows you to view the kilowatt-burning action from all over your home.

We are yet to receive details on how it is powered, it could be another device left on, to monitor the other useless technology waiting on standby.

Plus, covering the cost of these could come from taxes...
