New research from a leading internet analysis company predicts that broadband is the way forward for both the US and Europe.

Although in Europe broadband is already the choice of most internet users, the US market is dominated by cable internet providers.

However, JupiterResearch has determined that 79 million US households and 110 million households in Western Europe will be connected with broadband by 2011.

The research reveals where internet providers who want to capitalise on this boom should invest their money.

If US cable operators want to stave off losing their market share to broadband, they will have to drop prices.

At the end of 2005, 36% of US households had broadband connections, but this is set to increase to 65% in the next 5 years.
