It is the most visited site of all on the internet, but Yahoo has announced this morning that it is launching a new look for its home page in the UK, US, France, Germany, Spain and Italy to keep up with ever demanding website visitors.

The move, says Yahoo, marks the most significant re-design to the Yahoo! home page.

“With an increased focus on search, content, community and personalisation, we created a consumer-friendly home page that we feel our users and advertisers will enjoy”, said Dominique Vidal, regional vice president and managing director, Yahoo! Europe

Additionally, the new home page delivers a dynamic, interactive and easy-to-use consumer experience via AJAX and DHTML technologies.

The new page at offers a variety of new and enhanced features, including a Personal Assistant option that will display recent messages from Yahoo! Mail, an online friends list from Yahoo! Messenger, and local weather forecasts.

The new homepage will also feature Yahoo! Pulse which allows people to see what is hot on the web including the most popular and interesting Yahoo! searches, more focus on news, sport and entertainment stories and the use of an enhanced Search Box.

The new homepage will say in beta for the first month to iron out any bugs and get customer feedback before becoming the permanent homepage after that.
