Sharp, hoping to show that its is more Eco friendly than the next company, has announced at IFA 2005 in Berlin, Germany that it will be releasing a series of LCD TVs that bear the official EU Eco-Label.

The label is awarded by the European Commission to companies that show their commitment to save energy and preserve resources. The companies must also prove tat it recycles the raw materials which were used for manufacturering the products.

The SH1E LCD-TVs consume considerably less energy than comparable tube TVs offering around a 30 percent energy saving. The television also has a 60,000 hour life cycle.

The televisions will come in 33, 38 and 50 cm models and will be available later on this year.
