It's hardly up there with Manchester City snapping up Samir Nasri or West Ham buying the brilliantly named Brian Montenegro, but Everton have pulled off a transfer deadline coup by making Best Buy its official technology partner.
The deal means that Everton fans will have ample opportunity on match days to win vouchers to the tech superstore. Best Buy has similar deals in the States with US sports teams (or should that be franchises?)
Ian Boyton, sponsorship and events manager at Best Buy UK, said: “We are very proud to be supporting Everton Football Club. Everton fans are up there as some of the most passionate and connected supporters in the country and we’re thrilled to be joining them at the start of this exciting new season in the Barclays Premier League.
"We know how important the club is to the supporters and we hope we can use our partnership to create an amazing match day experience for fans both in the ground and in their living rooms."
Does this mean an end to Liverpool fans shopping in Best Buy, in protest at their rival's deal. Chelsea wear the Samsung moniker on their shirts and there have been suggestions that fans of other London clubs have boycotted Sammy as a result.
We shall see...
