Back in March 7digital announced that it was offering the new Radiohead album, The King of Limbs, as a better-than-CD quality FLAC 24-bit digital download.

And now the digital music online store has announced that it is expanding its lossless audio section, offering both 16-bit and 24-bit FLAC files.

Audiophiles everywhere are cheering the move, but only their superior ears are able to hear the cheers, so don't strain yourself trying to listen.

“There’s an increasing demand amongst consumers for higher quality music downloads,” said Ben Drury, CEO at 7digital.

“Internet connected music devices that provide a ‘better-than-CD’ quality sound are becoming commonplace in the home. These devices reply on higher quality digital music downloads to provide superior quality music playback, and appeal to a broader base of consumers beyond the average audiophile.

“We’re already in talks with the major and key independent labels about offering more FLAC downloads from 7digital stores, and expect to make more tracks and albums available as demand from consumers increases.”

FLAC albums start from £9.99. A word of warning though, don't bother with The King of Limbs - it's more BSOD than an OK Computer.
