Extra, extra, read all about it - media moguls team up for digital newspaper assault.

That's right people, two of the most successful businessmen in the world, Apple's Steve Jobs and News Corp's Rupert Murdoch, are going to take to the stage at the same time to officially announce The Daily - the much anticipated iPad digital newspaper.

In an event that sounds like a scene from a superhero movie (come on, who wouldn't be surprised to see Jobs and Murdoch uncover a laser that can blow up the moon?) Jobs and his new BFF will use an event at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to show off the new app, with a date of 19 January pencilled in.

The Daily will be based in New York, but also have staff on the West Coast too, in LA. It's not clear what sort of content we might get here in the UK as of yet, if any.

The Daily will be run by Jesse Angelo, previously of the New York Post. Sources familiar with the project have said he wants a tabloid sensibility with a broadsheet intelligence. Former Viacom digital distribution boss Greg Clayman is overseeing the business side of the venture. It's believed that Murdoch is reportedly willing to put $30 million into The Daily.

It is expected to cost 99 cents a week, or around $4.25 a month and it will be published, you guessed it, daily.
