Two new versions of Angry Birds are now available on iTunes, just in time for the "Witching" season.

Angry Birds Halloween, for iPhone and iPod touch, and Angry Birds Halloween HD, for iPad, are completely new games, with 45 levels apiece and new themes and graphics throughout. Obviously, the colour pallet has taken a turn towards the more orange range of the spectrum, and there's an over-abundance of pumpkins throughout.

However, the latter awards you points if you manage to smash them up, so not everything's been added just for show.

Gameplay is identical, although Pocket-lint hasn't quite made it through to the later levels yet, so can't tell you if there's any new distempered foul lurking in catapults anywhere, but it's a breath of fresh air for anyone who, like us, has thoroughly exhausted the original versions.

Angry Birds Halloween costs 59p for iPhone/iPod touch, with the HD edition priced at £1.19 for iPad; released by developer Rovio Mobile Ltd, rather than the publisher of the original Chillingo (after its buy out by Electronic Arts).

Now, hands up who's going to knock on doors on 31 October dressed as an Angry Bird or egg-stealing pig? We bet there'll be a fair few...
