Sony Ericsson is a joint venture established on October 1, 2001 by the consumer electronics company Sony and the Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson to manufacture mobile phones. The deal meant that both companies would stop making their own mobile phones. Handsets from Sony Ericsson include the Cyber-shot and Xperia ranges of mobiles, with the most recent addition being the Sony Ericsson Play (PlayStation phone).
