- No Live View option, no movies of any description, no built-in anti-shake
- Verdict
- Though some may find Nikon’s implementation of an on-board help guide with large print text and bright graphics on the D3000 patronising, there’s no denying it’s a clever way to widen its traditionally specialist user base and attract new converts – even if we did miss use of Live View when attempting shots from otherwise tricky angles on occasion

- Image quality, movie quality, tilt turn and swivel LCD (for some shots), handling, ease of use, price
- The Bad
- Small viewfinder, LCD resolution/colour rendition, size (for market), bottom hinged LCD easily impeded on a tripod
- Verdict
- Nikon’s D5000 sits above the D60 but below the D90 in the Nikon DSLR range, with a feature set culled from the latter, but priced towards the former. It has a 12.3MP CMOS sensor and a new tilt, turn, swivel 2.7-inch LCD and HD movie capability and it is, well, a cracker

- Verdict
- The Nikon Coolpix L19 is very easy to use; my 4-year-old used it with ease and it is capable of excellent image quality at lower ISOs. As the advert goes, it does what it says on the tin but not much more

- The Nikon Coolpix L100 is the top model in Nikon’s "Life" range of easy to use snappers. Like the recently tested L19, it is indeed very easy to use and capable of excellent results at lower ISOs and it sports a very crisp, versatile 15x wide zoom lens

- The Nikon Coolpix P6000 is the top of the proverbial tree in terms of Coolpix models and boasts some very cool kit indeed. It’s great to use and has impressive performance at the core and is well worth considering even if it is a bit pricey at £430

- The Nikon Coolpix P60 is a step up from Coolpix P50 featuring a similarly neat "classic" styling and while at first glance, the updated camera has fairly modest tweaks, there are distinct improvements over the P50

- Verdict
- The Nikon D90 is not just a makeover of the D80, the camera it will ultimately supersede: it is a complete revamp and as such provides a range of new and improved features that must make one of the best consumer level DSLRs to arrive on the market to date
