Sigma DP2 digital camera
Does this fixed lens compact live up to its DSLR-like claims?
1 September 2009 10:39 GMT
- The Good
- Excellent lens, wealth of hands-on control, works best when attempting images with a shallow depth of field
- The Bad
- Expensive, variable white balance if left in auto mode, washed out de-saturated colours, plasticky feel to build, occasional operational freezes
- Verdict
- The Sigma DP2 won’t appeal to everybody, and that’s largely by design. It works best when viewed as a compact back-up to an existing DSLR, or an experimental supplement to a more fully-featured, user-friendly digital compact
- Price
- £599

- Verdict

It looks expensive, but as a step down from canon EOS 1D Mk III, it makes a lot of sense indeed and without that much of a compromise on performance. This is simply a superb new EOS and one that should be a hot contender for your cash
