- Verdict
- Overall, in our short time with the device, the Bold 9700 seems like a solid improvement on the old Bold. It doesn't do anything terribly revolutionary - focusing on the communications experience above everything else - but it's a solid smartphone choice for those who put messaging above everything else

- Excellent lens, wealth of hands-on control, works best when attempting images with a shallow depth of field
- The Bad
- Expensive, variable white balance if left in auto mode, washed out de-saturated colours, plasticky feel to build, occasional operational freezes
- Verdict
- The Sigma DP2 won’t appeal to everybody, and that’s largely by design. It works best when viewed as a compact back-up to an existing DSLR, or an experimental supplement to a more fully-featured, user-friendly digital compact

- This isn't the smallest camera out there, however the in-camera technology and features make this a very versatile device indeed

- Verdict
- The EOS 350D gets more than just a make over with the introduction of its replacement, ease of use at the core and good image quality combine with a 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and a new anti dust system that make this a cracking bit of kit

- The W300 sits atop Sony’s “W” series of compact digicams. Image quality, as always with such cameras, is good at lower ISOs, but leaves a lot to be desired as sensitivity rises

- The Bad
- Slightly soft (default) JPEG images, some fiddly controls/handling issues, underpowered built-in flash, some noisy images at higher ISOs
- Verdict
- Pentax’s new flagship DSLR offers up a host of tasty treats for the high-end or advanced amateur user it’s designed to entice. An excellent specification and massive range of compatible Pentax K-mount lenses plus new weatherproofed kit optics all makes the K-7 look like a super camera

- Joystick and Quick Dial take getting used to; shadow detail lost too quickly, noise processing eats detail over ISO 1000 (and at lowest setting)
- Verdict
- While the new model is essentially presented in the same wrapper as the 40D, it has significant improvements that make it very tempting indeed

- Fuji’s S100fs marks the replacement for the S9600 and is a significant step-up in terms of specification and features not least of which is the all-encompassing 28-400mm optical zoom. But this is a camera not without problems

- If you look at the Mio A501 as a GPS first and a phone/pda second then it's cracking, but chances are your priorities will probably be around the other way, in which case you might be disappointed

- Pentamirror viewfinder’s gloomy, some key controls buried only in menus, minor handling issue
- Verdict
- The K200D boasts a mid-range specification in a budget model DSLR body and has some neat improvements over its K100D forbear. Image quality is great and, just like the K100D, bar some minor quibbles, overall it is excellent

- Verdict
- While it looks very nice, the entry price is higher than that of its predecessor and, mysteriously, there are a few things missing from the new model

- The Panasonic Lumix DMC L10 is easy to use, provides plenty of shooting options and features and is worthy of close consideration

- Verdict
- It may be “Raspberry Red” according to Fuji, but the very Pink Fuji Z5fd I had to test is an ultra compact camera that is both simple to use and nice to look at
