Cygnett has announced the launch of the new Unison Tower Speaker for iPod and iPhone.

The Unison Tower Speaker features a built-in AM and FM radio tuner and an alarm clock that can be set to wake to radio or a tune from the 'pod.

The freestanding vertical speaker system charges an iPod or iPhone while playing and offers 2.1 stereo channel output, there's a white or blue LED backlit display and it comes complete with a remote control.

The new Unison Tower Speaker System is available now for a not-to-be-sneezed-at ?199.99.

Scosche, an iPod accessories company, has launched a pair of headphones that it's calling its "flagship model". The IDR650m is aimed at audio enthusiasts and provides noise isolation and an inline mic.

That noise isolation comes courtesy of a pair of silicone earbud tips that should sit comfortably in your ear. They come in single and dual flanged variants, as well as in small, medium or large sizes. Scosche promises that the headphones "accurately reproduce brilliant highs, silky smooth mids and powerful bass".

The cord is 52-inches long and on it there's an inline microphone for use as a hands-free kit. That mic also has controls on it that allow you to play, pause, change volume and skip tracks without taking your phone or MP3 player out of your pocket.

The IDR650m earphones cost ?60 and are available now from Apple stores and online.

4iThumbs appears to be designed for iPhone users that can't get on with the touchscreen, but don't want to give up their precious.

It's a clear, tactile typing aid for the iPhone's screen that "facilitates faster and more accurate typing, enables blind typing, reduces glare and is the strongest screen protector on the market".

The tactile ridges are said to "guide thumbs for accurate input to ease the transition from other smartphones to the iPhone", so a little like stabilisers, we guess.

Navigon is going down the TomTom route by offering a hardware accessory to support its Navigon MobileNavigator iPhone application.

And support is the correct word, as the Navigon iPhone Car Mount, unlike the more expensive TomTom effort, is just a plastic cradle with no extra GPS receiver or built-in speaker.

This is perhaps why the Navigon iPhone Car Mount has an RRP of ?39.95, while the TomTom effort comes in at just under ?100.

Meanwhile Navigon has started to charge for software upgrades in the UK, with the latest allowing users to type a full 7-digit UK postcode straight into their iPhone as opposed to just the road name and number.

The 7-digit postcode app for the Navigon MobileNavigator is available through "In App Purchase" for ?1.19 and the iPhone car Mount is ?39.95 from www.navigon.com.

Klipsch's iGroove SXT launched back in 2007 and promised a horn-loaded, high-fidelity iPod dock for audiophiles. Well, it seems someone at Klipsch HQ has decided they aren't quite happy enough with it, so the company is rolling out an updated version.

The new model keeps the dual long-throw 2.5-inch woofers and 19mm horn-loaded tweeters of the original, but adds bi-amplification for the speakers, meaning that each driver is amplified individually. Klipsch reckons that will eliminate distortion and improve sonic performance.

On top of that, the SXT's bass ports, on the sides, have been re-tuned to remove "port noise", and the system has now passed Apple's "Works with iPhone" certification - so you shouldn't get any network noise (beep b-beep, beep b-beep) with this speaker.

It has a 30-pin connector, and other devices can be connected via a rear auxiliary input. There's also a 1000mA rapid charge circuit, so you can juice up your battery lickety-split while you're listening - apparently Klipsch's dock is the only one on the market with this feature at the time of writing.

The iGroove SXT comes in one colour, a black-and-silver combo, and is accompanied by an IR remote. It costs ?130 - a little more than the original's ?100 price point - and is available right now.

Parisian audio co YBA has announced it is to offer the iDW1 - an iPod docking station boasting full aluminium construction.

Part of YBA's "Design series", said to be "products that combine YBA's ethos of great design, advanced technology and outstanding sound performance" the new component is available to be shipped to the UK now.

With an Apple universal connector, the iDW1 works with the iPods and iPhones, offers composite video output, and a remote control that can also be used to control some functions of the 'pod.

With an RRP of ?149, the dock can now be ordered via the YBA site.

The new QDOS "Jet Play" case for iPhones and iPod touch is said to be "designed to enhance the pleasure of gaming and improve gaming scores".

However, it may find an alternative use as an effective anti-theft device, considering how ugly it makes the iPhone, or iPod touch, look.

GEAR4 has announced it is to launch what it says is the world's first dedicated wireless iPhone charger – the PowerPad.

Rather than conductive charging, the PowerPad uses inductive charging, where power is transmitted through the case to the iPhone battery. This means the iPhone can be placed anywhere on the charge pad to be juiced up.

The charging pad plugs into the mains, while the rubber receiver case - that can also act as a protective cover when out and about - powers the device up wirelessly. GEAR4 claims the same charge time as standard wired chargers.

The PowerPad will be available across Europe from November, the charge pad and case kit will cost ?79.99 or 99.99 euros.

A new system in the States from Californian company Viper will see iPhones used as remote controls for cars, as the Viper SmartStart can unlock your car, start your car, lock your car, open the boot, heat your car or cool it, all remotely, all via an iPhone app.

The Bond-esque system works on any car with electric windows and locks and works via a receiver that is installed in the car. It's due to go on sale at Best Buy stores for around $500 while the app is available via the App Store.

TomTom's well-publicised TomTom car kit for iPhone is now on sale and can be bought from the TomTom web store and Apple online store from now.

As many of you will know, the kit comprises of a secure mount that docks iPhone into position on the car windscreen or dashboard, using a twist-and-lock motion, for widescreen or landscape display.

As well as docking the iPhone, the kit also incorporates a built-in GPS receiver that claims to boost reception and improve positioning accuracy.

There's also a built-in loud speaker and microphone that allows for hands-free calling while driving and can play iPhone music through the AUX OUT port on a car stereo.

Also offering the ability to charge the iPhone when docked, the car kit has a retail price of ?99.99 in the UK and will be available in the US via TomTom and Apple "in the near future".

The TomTom app is sold separately via the App Store for ?60. The app will soon see an update bringing Advanced Lane Guidance and an updated safety camera database as well as compatibility with 2G iPhones - until then, this kit is only good for 3G and 3GS models.

GEAR4 has announced yet another product, this time its latest speaker for iPod and iPhone, the Explorer-SP.

The company is calling it a "Home Portable" speaker, as it can be powered by the mains or the built-in battery.

With "FastCharge" functionality, the speaker juices up in 2 hours for 8 hours of use and has a battery indicator to show how much power is left.

With two full range drivers, GEAR4 says the new speaker offers "3D DSP sound enhancement and discreet, ported bass tuning".

The Explorer-SP comes complete with a metal fold out stand, four dock adapters for iPod/iPhone, a remote control and a padded carry case and it goes on sale in November for ?99.99 or 149.99 euros.

Griffin Technology has announced a new range of fashion cases for the iPhone 3G, the "Elan Form Etch range".

Every Etch case features a leather exterior bonded to a "near-indestructible" polycarbonate inner shell.

Designs include the checkerboard pattern of "Chess", the retro cassette design of "Rewind", as well as "Stars", tree-themed "Solstice", and the "405" apparently inspired by LA's Interstate 405.

With Griffin's EasyDock design, that allows the device to be docked whilst in the case, the new Etch case collection goes on sale in October 2009, priced at ?24.99.
