It seems Sony Ericsson's new high-end Satio handset is suffering from "issues" as the UK's biggest mobile phone retailer, Carphone Warehouse, as well as Phones 4U, have withdrawn the device from sale.

As the Satio is "temporarily" withdrawn from Carphone shop shelves, the chain is also offering to replace handsets for any customer who has experienced problems.

"From time to time we experience issues with new handsets, and their software, which may result in a customer experience that is below our usually high standards. We want customers to have complete confidence and satisfaction in the handsets they buy from us, which is why we have temporarily withdrawn the Sony Ericsson Satio from sale", The Carphone Warehouse says in a statement.

"We are working closely with Sony Ericsson to restock the Satio phone as soon as possible and will offer any customer who returns a faulty Satio an exchange of phone".

Problems reported with the Satio include freezing, crashing, battery problems and issues with the phone's interface.

"Sony Ericsson confirms that it has been made aware that a small number of consumers have experienced software issues with its Satio handset when using certain applications", Sony Ericsson says in a statement. ?

"Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U have temporarily removed the handset from sale to ensure that future customers do not have an adverse experience. Sony Ericsson is giving this matter its utmost priority and is working toward solving it as soon as possible".

A Vodafone spokesperson told Pocket-lint that the Satio it offers is a Vodafone variant that's been through testing. The operator says it's continuing to keep a track of the situation, but it is still offering the Vodafone Sony Ericsson Satio for sale.

We've yet to hear if other operators that offer the handset will also be stopping sales or offering exchanges, but we'll update this post as we do.

The Palm Pre - launched in the UK back in October - has now being stocked by high street giant The Carphone Warehouse. O2 has the UK exclusive on the Pre (for now) and is offering the handset for free on ?35 per month, 2-year contracts.

From a customer point of view the only difference is that there's now more places you can pick up a Pre, but from a business standpoint, seeing the new webOS device hit the shelves across CPW's many stores might make a difference in sales volume, especially in the lead up to Christmas.

Sales stats for the device aren't known, but O2 said of the Pre's launch that it sold more Pre handsets on the day than the total number of handsets that it normally sells on the average day.

LG's newest touchscreen handset, the LG GD510 Pop, announced back in September, is now available at the Carphone Warehouse for ?99.95 on pay as you go basis.

Said to be easy to use, the Pop offers a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen with a thin bezel of brushed aluminium casing.

Described as the smallest full 3-inch touchscreen phone yet, it features a 3-megapixel camera, a web browser and multimedia player. Boasting 8GB of external memory the Pop measures in at 97.8 x 49.5 x 11.2mm.

The LG Pop is also available for free on ?15 per month 24-month contracts, or ?20 per month 18-monthers.

Since we brought you news of the new Nokia Illuvial range it's been announced that Pixie Lott will be "the face" for the new series.

A Carphone Warehouse exclusive, the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Illuvial, Nokia 6700 Illuvial and the Nokia 6303 Illuvial are being flung into the Christmas market.

Pixie Lott is quoted as saying: "I spend loads of time on my mobile, so it's important to me that it looks good. The phones in the range all look fab – they're stylish and yet still girlie".

Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Illuvial is due to be available on a PAYG basis from ?99.95, pay monthly from ?15 a month.

The Nokia 6700 Illuvial will cost ?179.95 on PAYG and is available on a pay monthly basis from ?20 a month, while the Nokia 6303 Illuvial gets a PAYG price tag of from ?79.95, and pay monthly from ?10 a month.

The Jabra Stone has been announced as a Carphone Warehouse exclusive boasting a "revolutionary" design that's said to "break the mold of the traditional Bluetooth headset".

PR speak aside, the 7-gram Stone wraps behind the ear with no on-face boom bit and then fits neatly into a little portable charger slash case when not in use. ?

Boasting dual-microphone "Noise Blackout Extreme" noise cancelling tech the Stone gets a near-invisibale touch-controlled volume pad on the outside of the headset, soft rubber padding and a soft ear gel around the speaker.

Following the news that O2 has lost its operator exclusive on the iPhone, Carphone Warehouse has suffered a similar fate with its retail exclusive.

Phones4U has announced that it will be selling the Apple iPhone range from both Orange and O2 in shops and online while Orange's in-store deal with HMV means the Apple mobile will also be on sale in select HMV stores too.

The news from Phones4U alone means the iPhone will be available soon at an additional 400-plus shops across the UK.

Brendan Sweeney, Phones4U's managing director said in a release: "We are very pleased to be partnering with both Orange and O2 to sell the iPhone. Recognised for our in-depth understanding of the youth market and their needs, our knowledgeable and skilled staff are in a strong position to introduce the Apple iPhone to our Phones4U customer base".

It's as yet unknown when Orange iPhone sales will begin, with mid-November thought likely, while Vodafone will also offer the device in 2010.

RIM's BlackBerry Storm 2, the follow up to its first ever touchscreen handset the Storm that launched in 2008, appears to be due an imminent UK release with the Carphone Warehouse now promoting the device in store.

Following the news that a promo poster for the device appeared in the window of a Carphone Warehouse store in Cornwall, yet another posted has now revealed a little bit more information - a rough idea of pricing.

From the promotional material in the shop window - this time round in Walton on Thames - it seems the smartphone will be available on Vodafone contracts from ?30 a month, perhaps a little less than might have been expected.

Specs for the new handset are rumoured to include a 3.2-megapixel camera, HSDPA, OS version 5.0 and a completely revamped 360 ? 480 resolution capacitive touchscreen without the original Storm screen's clicky functionality.

The Carphone Warehouse will be stocking the BlackBerry Storm 2 as powered by Vodafone, an eagle eyed tech fiend has spotted.?

The picture, posted to Twitpic via a friend based in Newquay, shows a placement card for the yet to be officially announced handset in a Carphone Warehouse store with the words:

"I'm not on display, please ask a sales consultant for a demonstration".

RIM, the company behind the BlackBerry range, has yet to confirm when the new Storm 2 will be out although his picture suggests it won't be long.?

Earlier in the Summer, spy pictures of the handset showed up in Germany running on the Vodafone network.

Although not confirmed in this set of images, previous rumours have suggested the phone will get a 3.2-megapixel camera, HSDPA, a 360 ? 480 resolution capacitive touchscreen and OS version 5.0.?

Vodafone announced the BlackBerry Storm at the beginning of October in 2008 giving it plenty of time to sell to would be Christmas shoppers looking to treat themselves.

LG has announced the launch of the LG GD510, apparently also known as "Pop", presumably carrying on the junk food theme the similarly low-end, 7-million-selling LG KP500, aka the "Cookie", started.

Introducing the device as a "touchscreen phone that has never been simpler to use", the Pop offers a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen with a thin bezel of brushed aluminum casing.

Details of specs are a little light at the stage, LG says a single button is used on the interface which functions as the menu, end and cancel keys while "a slim strip of light around the button shines either green or red indicating the handset's function".

Features include an media player for music and movie, an "easy-to-use" browser and a 3-megapixel camera for both photos and videos.

The handset will be available in the UK in November at the Carphone Warehouse. Pricing not revealed, but we'd expect it to be at the affordable/PAYG end of the market.
