When it comes of Special Edition Xbox 360 consoles, the Star Wars version has to sit at the top of the tree. Gears of War and Call of Duty have pretty much passed into gaming folklore, but Star Wars is a different beast altogether.

The Star Wars Xbox 360 Limited Edition console arrives in celebration of Kinect Star Wars and naturally, this is a Kinect version of the Xbox, with a 320GB hard drive.?

The artwork on the Xbox itself reflects some of the detailing from R2-D2's paint job in blue and white. It's instantly recognisable and looks great sitting in your lounge. The white matching Kinect with black panels in the underside looks every inch like an Imperial Stormtrooper.?

There is a small hidden detail too. Press the eject button to open the disc tray - accompanied by R2-D2 sound effects - and you'll find Star Wars' perhaps most iconic line inscribed inside: "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."

The sound effects add a touch of difference too. As we've seen in other Special Edition Xbox consoles, both the power and the eject buttons emit noises when touched, although not when you use the controller or UI to switch the power off or eject the disc.

Finally you have the controller. It's finished in gold to reflect, literally, C-3PO's highly polished gold plating. Running around the back you'll find coloured wiring to look like the droid's exposed midriff.

If we've one negative comment about the controller, it's that the gold finish is glossy and therefore doesn't give you the same surface grip as the regular controller. You'll also have to polish those grubby fingerprints off it, but neither is too much to ask and the underside is regular textured black, so feels like the normal controllers do.

Of course, if you're getting the Star Wars Xbox 360 console you'll get your hands on Kinect Star Wars too, and for that you won't need the C-3PO controller, so it can sit, polished, where everyone can gaze at its brilliance.

To round out the kit you get a black headset and all the normal cables and connections, making this quite a package for Star Wars fans young and old. Of course, we couldn't help snapping it from every side and shooting a quick video, so be sure to check both out.?

The Kinect Star War Xbox 360 Limited Edition will be landing on 3 April 2012 and will cost you ?349.99. If you can't stretch to a whole new console, you'll be able to get the Kinect Star Wars game for ?39.99.

While YouTube might boast the bigger audience, there is no denying that the videos on Vimeo are, how shall we put this, more crafted.

Vimeo has released its Windows Phone 7 app, something that Google's YouTube has still failed to do, offering a host of features and ways to catch up with the latest videos on the service on the go, but is it better than the website? We get downloading and uploading to find out.

Download the free app and you are instantly presented with a welcome page offering quick links to a host of goodies.

There is the facility to search the entire Vimeo catalogue, the ability to see "my videos", which videos you have ticked the "likes" button for, the ones you've opted to "watch later" and even "collections".

Swipe to the right and there's featured content, letting you instantly enjoy recommendations either from the Vimeo team, or by the most-viewed content on the video site.

Swipe again and you have the chance to explore via Vimeo's numerous categories. Whether your interests are in Art, Comedy, Experimental [oh errr] or Sports the Vimeo app has you covered.

Each video has all the details you would expect to see, the ability to set to watch later and like, as well as the chance to read and make comments. You can also share videos via email, social, and SMS.

Where the app gets a little more interesting than just another way to view the video site is that you are also able to upload video to Vimeo as well over 3G if you wish.

Opting to upload video fires up the camera's video functionality - although don't expect to get anything other than that. There are no focus controls, or effects, or the ability to upload videos you've previously captured - something of a missed opportunity.

If you're a fan of Vimeo then this app will serve you well, allowing you to quickly catch up on the wealth of videos on the site in a handy-to-eat app format. We would have liked more control over the upload feature and of the video functionality when you come to actually capture something, but at least Vimeo has included 3G support.

Before Microsoft bamboozled us with its vision of the future, Gorilla Glass maker Corning blew our socks off with its A Day Made of Glass video.

The YouTube phenomenon (17 million views and counting) gave us a glimpse of the world of tomorrow and was so attractive because it all seemed so possible, as many of the technologies on show have already been developed and are just waiting to hit our homes and streets.

And now we've had to spend another 5 or so minutes with our jaw on the floor as A Day Made of Glass 2 has been released.

According to its makers, the sequel "extends the ideas, applications, and interfaces introduced in the original video into new arenas – including healthcare and education – continuing the story of how highly engineered glass, with companion technologies, will help shape our world".

According to us, it's just bloomin' brilliant. How can you not love a bit of AR Jurassic Park action, or the fact that a doctor can literally drag a patient's brain around?

There's also an extended version of the video that gives a bit of extra detail on the technologies used in the action.

Mind-blowing stuff, we're sure you'll agree.

More leaky than a Welsh field with paper watering pipes, the Pentax K-01 has entered the realms of officialdom, ending weeks of speculation.

Pentax joins the compact system camera game and will take on the likes of the Fujifilm X-Pro1, but has an ace up its sleeve: the world’s thinnest interchangeable lens - the smc Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS unifocal.

It also packs a a newly developed 16.28-megapixel CMOS image sensor measuring 23.7 x 15.7mm that has an ISO range of 100 to 12800, or up to 25600 when expanded with a custom function.

Using the same K-mount lens system as the K-5, you can attach K-, KA- KAF, KAF2 and KAF3- mount lenses without any fuss and, if you do want to add a screw-mount lens, a 645-system lens or 67-system one, you can use an adapter.

Video shooting is 1080p HD at either 30, 25 or 24fps and there's a couple of video additions from the K-5: a video recording button for instant start and a stereo microphone.

For stills, there is a new HDR mode on board, 19 digital filters, a custom image function and a high-speed burst mode capable of five shots per second. Like the Pentax K-5, it has 3-inch 920k-dot LCD display around the back with a 170-degree viewing angle.

Looks-wise, it's very retro funky. Designed by Marc Newson, it is treated with an SP (Super Protect) coating to repel dust, water and grease and its finish is a combo of machined aluminium and natural rubber with the dials constructed from high-quality aluminium alloy.

Newson explained: "I wanted to create something that represented quality and expertise in photography. Some of my favourite photographic devices have been Pentax products. I wanted to return to the high quality roots of the brand and create something which was really unique and iconic."

It certainly looks swanky - we'll give him that.

The Pentax K-01 will be available from the end of March in three colour schemes (black with black grip, black with yellow grip, silver with black grip) and will cost ?629.99 for the K-01 body only, ?50 more the 40mm DA XS or DAL 18-55mm lens or ?799.99 for the a bundle comprising the K-01, DAL 18-55mm lens and the DAL 50-200mm lens.

To say the app is simple would be an understatement. Bord and the free Bord Lite app simply turns your Windows Phone into a old school chalkboard, however it does it in such a pretty way that we just had to share it with you.?

Load up the app and you get to draw on the app's black or green chalkboard with six different chalks, choose the size of the chalk, and then rub it off with a sponge afterwards.

The difference between the two versions is that one lets you load your saved drawings with playback of drawing in the realtime or at various speeds. Either way there are no adverts to worry about to bamboozle your kids with, which is great.

Where Bord shows its cute side is that the chalk on the board acts in the same way as chalk on a real blackboard does. Keep going over the same spot and the colour you are using becomes more concentrated, while rubbing it out with the sponge won't get all of the chalk off first time.

There isn't much to the Bord app admittedly, but it has already saved our bacon at a couple of restaurants with our 4- and 5-year-old kids meaning for us it's well worth the 79p purchase price.?

The forthcoming HTC Ville has made a 3-minute video debut online, revealing a great deal about the incoming Android 4, Sense 4 handset.

Although the specs have previously been rumoured and we've seen images of the new Android handset, the video leaves little to the imagination.

First up you have the design. It looks a lot like the renderings previously released, although this being an HTC handset, there aren't too many surprises as the company tends to stick to the same designs.?It certainly appears to be slim though, and using the typical unibody design with inserted panels top and bottom to ensure good reception and allow access to the internals.

All the connections appear to be in normal places, the standby and 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, volume on the right and Micro-USB on the left.?Perhaps more interesting is the three touch controls across the bottom of the phone, losing the menu button, as per Ice Cream Sandwich on the Galaxy Nexus.

This is a new version of HTC Sense too. The details from the software information later in the video reveal it to be HTC Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0.1, so it looks like HTC are making the right moves in software too.

HTC Sense 4.0 appears to have dealt with one of our biggest bugbears and that's the antiquated homescreen dock. Now you have two shortcuts either side of a central app tray button, very much like stock Android 4.

Diving into the settings, however, you get to see a nice panel effect rather than a straight list and the animation looks kind of cool. There are obvious differences in the app tray too, so it looks like HTC have run in some changes as you'd expect. Whether these are for better or worse, we'll have to wait until we can do an HTC Sense 4.0 review ourselves.

Fortunately we also get to see the hardware information page which reveals the HTC Ville to offer a 4.3-inch QHD (960 x 540) display, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel main camera and VGA front camera and Bluetooth 4, all of which sounds like a respectable load-out.

We also catch a glimpse of Beats Audio settings in the menu, but there is no Beats branding on the back of the phone, we suspect because this is a pre-release sample. Indeed, the watermarking on the wallpaper reaffirms this, and also means that HTC can probably trace exactly who filmed and leaked the handset - they also reveal a phone number and the device IMEI too…

The HTC Ville is likely to be HTC's "mid-range" device launched at MWC 2012. If rumours are to be believed we will also be seeing a larger Android device, the HTC Edge/Endeavour, but we suspect it will offer a similar operating system to what is on display here.

Remember back to your first phone, the Nokia that you no doubt owned, and the game that you used to play over and over again? Yep that's right, for Windows Phone 7 users Nokia Snake from 1997 is back.

Simply called Snake '97 the 79p app in the Windows Phone Marketplace will let you relive some nostalgia of those halcyon days when mobile phones were just that.

"By carefully analysing the classic gameplay, timing and controls, this Snake '97 remake is one of the most accurate available," says Willem Middelkoop, the developer.

The beauty here is that instead of trying to jazz the game up for the new century, Middelkoop, has kept it simple and pure, instead boosting the charm value with the controls.

You see the game's interface is that of an old Nokia handset from 1997 with you having to press the number pad buttons to control the snake on the screen rather than something that looks like the Windows Phone 7 interface.

Pressing those buttons gives you haptic feedback, while the games sound effects have been lifted from an old handset too.

We have to say it is probably the closest thing you'll experience to the real deal on an old handset.

For those looking for a bit more, there are 11 difficult settings including the 9 original ones and two extra difficulty levels added.

Last year's Super Bowl was memorable for one thing more than any other: not that it was played with the roof closed, which gave it an eerie atmosphere (in our opinion); nor that it marked a great victory for the Green Bay Packers, in their first Super Bowl win in 14 years; nope, it was THAT Volkswagen advert.

You remember, the one with the little kid who wanted to be Darth Vader. Simple, but brilliant in its execution, and only marred by two things: firstly, that the little kid inside the helmet turned out to be a precocious brat when interviewed on TV shows; and secondly, that the UK version of the same ad replaced the noise of the car engine starting up remotely at the end (something the Passat can do) with a lightsaber sample (something IT CAN NOT DO). We're not bitter though. Much.

Now Volkswagen is returning to a Star Wars theme with its advert for Super Bowl XLVI, and has posted a teaser for its spot during the most watched sporting spectacle in the US online for all to enjoy.

This time, the company has opted for dogs to provide the entertainment rather than irritating rug rats and we must say that we approve. It's bloody brilliant, and if this is but the warm up for the real ad, we can't wait.

All will be revealed on 5 February...

If there's one thing that geeks love it is Star Wars. If there's another, it is mobile phones. There are other things, of course, but those two serve as a legitimate intro into this story, which involves Vodafone recruiting Yoda, the Jedi Master, to front its latest advertising campaign.

In the new television ads Yoda is seen in every day scenarios, urging Vodafone users to "use the force" in situations where they don't really need to - such as switching contacts from one handset to another.

The first ad, set in a sushi restaurant, premi?res on Channel 4 between 8pm and 9pm on 19 January. We're also told by someone who worked on the commercials that we can expect to see the 900-year-old popping up at a hair salon and a bowling alley.

The adverts were filmed in November in London and each TV spot has been produced by a team at Lucasfilm’s renowned San Francisco-based visual effects facility ILM (Industrial Light & Magic), with Tom Kane voicing Yoda’s CGI character.

Danielle Crook, director of brand marketing at Vodafone UK, said: "Small things can mean the world to our customers – it’s why we have developed a range of simple services to help them feel confidently connected on the go. The campaign with Yoda shows that you don’t need to be a Jedi Master to unlock the power of mobile internet."

It looks like Alienware is lining up to launch their next generation of gaming desktop, teasing with their Let Your Hero Out video.

There isn't much to go on, but we can expect plenty of gaming power and breath-taking design for the new PC. The date given in the video is 18 Jan 2012 for a reveal, so I guess we'll know all the details by then.?

Alienware recently launched a new Aurora desktop in December 2011, at which point the Area 51 retired from active service. Therefore, it would be logical to guess that this will be an exciting new Area 51 desktop, which some had expected to see launched at CES 2012 in Las Vegas.

Motorola has teased wireless charging as a headline feature for CES 2012, if our interpretation of their teaser video is correct.

The video, posted on Saturday 7 January, simply shows an unhappy Dual Port Universal Charger shedding a tear, before inviting you to "Stay Unplugged".?

The immediate suggestion would be that Motorola is going to introduce inductive charging, but with recent updates to their mobile and tablet lines, does that mean we're going to see a run of new devices that support inductive charging launched as well?

Or perhaps there are already some in circulation, or planned? Add wireless charging to the Motorola RAZR or the Xoom Media Edition and we're sure lots would be very happy.

Of course, Motorola have cut most of the wires already, preferring you use MotoCast to access your content rather than throwing it into the internal memory.

There isn't too much more to go on, but with CES 2012 getting underway, it won't be long until we have all the details.

Since its launch, Star Wars: The Old Republic has thrown up a few issues, with Bioware even going to the extent of warning and then banning players for exploiting bugs in the system in its first month. Now though, it seems the developer of the massively successful massively multiplayer online game is taking a more softly softly approach. Which is just as well, because this hilarious exploit may never have seen the light of day otherwise.

One SWOTR player and forumite posted this video of, what is now known as, the "/getdown exploit" on the official forums, and while he has been politely informed that it has been taken down, he still lives to fight another day: "We recently removed your thread about the /getdown video," the poster claims to have been told by Bioware. "We appreciate you trying to bring it to our attention but we do not allow the posting of potential exploits on the forums. Note this message is just to let you know and is NOT a warning against your account!"

The exploit itself is hilarious, and even if stamped out promptly by the developer in patch form, it's immortalised in the video posted by?iAmPeacecraft. Typing /getdown during the game allows your character to burst into dance, cutting some groovy disco moves. However, doing it while in battle constantly interrupts your opponent, including boss baddies. They can't use any of their power attacks so your team mates can easily dispatch them, plus, you don't take damage while dancing.

Great stuff, if short-lived.

The Internet loves a cat, that's for sure. And whilst Kinect hacks may be a bit old hat now, and the Wii is on its last legs; combine the three with some robot virtual reality action and you've got an internet hit on your hands.

That's what Tokyo-based software engineer Taylor Veltrop has come up with, using his Jedi-like skills (read: Kinect sensor) and a Wii remote to control a Nao robot from Aldebaran Robotics, packed with a couple of cameras on board.

He controls the robot to brush a cat after walking towards it using a treadmill. We say brush, but we really mean tap with a brush. The cat doesn't seem too bothered though, even when he gets a bump to the head.

"This is the culmination of my last year's work," states Veltrop on YouTube. "I control the robot's arms through the Kinect and Wii remotes. I control the robot's navigation through the Kinect and treadmill. I control the robot's head through the head mounted display (HMD). I also see through the robot's eyes with the HMD.

"After doing this exercise, it became apparent that the next feature to add is hearing and speaking through the robot. Luckily both the NAO and my HMD have microphones and speakers so this shouldn't be too difficult."

If he can get the cat to talk back at him, it could break the Internet.

So, it's 2012 now and many of us are looking forward to all the surprises and treats that await us over the next year. YouTube video collector and creator derDon1234 has taken the time to look at the previous 100 years, however, from 1911 - 2011 in a 10-minute video chronicling the major events for each year along the way.?And it's fascinating stuff.

You may notice some things missing, and there seems to be a slant towards German events - in particular, the only World Cup win mentioned is West Germany's 1954 triumph (and not a whiff of England's in 1966) - but, to be honest, for a large part of the century, Germany was rather important in worldwide history; and not necessarily for the right reasons.

It certainly shows how far we've come in 100 years, and big props to the editor who managed to gather footage of just about everything detailed.

Before you make plans for 2012, we thoroughly recommend that you take the time to find out what led up to this point. After all, it's only 10 minutes of your life...

A video has been posted on YouTube showing, what has to be, one of the most audacious kills ever in Battlefield 3, and as such has seen nearly 6 million hits on YouTube since its upload.

The manoeuvre involves the downing of an enemy fighter, however despite the player involved - gamer tag RendeZook - having a perfectly functioning fighter all of their own, it seems their skill set lies elsewhere: namely in the handheld anti-tank (anti jet) department.

Rising steeply RendeZook then ejects from the fighter, takes aim at the pursuing craft and narrowly missing his own jet fires a single shell at the enemy. What happens next we'll leave to the video as we'd hate to spoil the ending completely.

Needless to say the entire Battlefield 3 and, for that matter, wider gaming community is heaping praise on the stunt; clearly, for RendeZook, the long hours have paid off.

Smartphones are so easy to use even Lizards are getting in on the action to keep themselves entertained.

We've seen the videos of toddlers using iPads, cats and dogs riding robotic vacuum cleaners, but what about the one where the Bearded Dragon plays a game on its owners smartphone?

This YouTube video uploaded in November shows a Bearded Dragon Lizard playing Ant Crusher on what looks to be a HTC Sensation, using its tongue to squash the ants as they walk down the screen.

It seems that as well as reacting to your fingers, the HTC touchscreen is also happy to react to a tongue; although if you end up trying it we'd recommend having a tissue handy for that quick wipe down.

How does the little fella do? Well not amazingly, but good enough to give you a run for your money.

UPDATE: Looks like an African Bullfrog owner tried the same, but with not such a happy ending.?
