Full Review

3 September 2008 - Targus is best known for its wide range of corporate notebook cases but recently it’s been trying to address a younger market with a number of designs that move away from black and business-like.

This backpack is a two-tone silver and grey bag with a compartment big enough to hold a 15.4-inch notebook quite comfortably. There are two versions of this backpack available, one with green trim and a second with pink.

The design is simple that feels great to the touch. The canvas bag is highlighted with touches of rubber – there are even rubber dimples on the base to steady it.

The main pocket has a smaller one running alongside it and there are smaller pockets on the side and front of the backpack. They have concealed zippers, which helps prevent thieves from getting at your gadgets, and the overall finish is tough but lightweight.

There is a grab handle on the top of the bag, which we found to be well padded and great if you just need to move to bag around. The shoulder straps proved firmly attached and while this isn’t a particularly heavyweight bag, there is an adjustable chest strap to help spread the weight.

Verdict

The only problem we have with the Targus Multiplier Backpack is that the designer has gone for a euro-trash look rather than sophisticated urban-chic look. It’s a quality backpack for the price but destined to be used by backpacking teenage students.
