Full Review

Dicota has close to 400 different bag styles to choose from and its latest Actives range is aimed at those who need to take their notebook in to extreme conditions.

Made from tough nylon and available in a range of colours, this rucksack is intended for students rather than business users. This rucksack is large enough to hold a 15.4-inch notebook. Instead of having a dedicated section, there is a padded sleeve, which means when not carrying your notebook you can use this rucksack for other uses.

The main compartment is large with plenty of room inside. This is good, as it is the only real space the backpack offers. The only other pocket is a small one on the front for peripherals and smaller items. There are two mesh pockets on the sides for your water bottles.

The straps are extremely well padded and are molded into the back of the bag. We were impressed with the amount of padding on the back and as it contains air holes, you won't find yourself sweating too much under the strain of a heavy load. There is also a reassuringly padded handle for when you need to carry it by hand.

Dicota claims this rucksack comes with rain protection, which is a slip cover tucked away in a front pocket that you can pull over the bag should you be caught out in bad weather. While it adds a degree of protection, we'd feel that it would seldom get used.

Verdict

The Dicota BacPac Element is a compact but rugged rucksack that is certainly worth the asking price. It doesn't offer that much in the way of storage space but as an overnight bag it's more than usable.
