Full Review
One of the fastest growing gadget areas at the moment is the digital photo frame. Prices have dropped considerably of late and the most popular size – the 7-inch panel – is now the most affordable.
The Lite-On cenOmax has a 7-inch screen with a 480 x 234-pixel resolution and offers a host of connections to make this an appealing and value-for-money product.
The bezel is on the large size and the use of plastic is a little on the cheap side. You'll find a row of controls on the back of the unit and you can either use the supplied stand or hang it on the wall for the full effect.
The quality of the images is more than acceptable, looking sharp and bright. However, this isn't just a photo frame as it also supports AVI movies and MP3 files too, which seems to be par for the course.
There are small stereo speakers on the back of the unit and sound quality was actually better than we were expecting. You won't want to watch a movie on the frame but the odd clip of your children playing is more than fine.
The navigation system is easy to get to grips with and there is even a small remote control unit, which mirrors the unit's main controls, so you can change settings with ease.
When it comes to getting data on to the frame, there is support for Secure Digital, Memory Stick, CompactFlash and xD Picture Card, so all the main camera cards are covered, which isn't always the case.
Verdict
At £53 (inc. VAT) the Lite-On cenOmax is definitely an entry-level product that delivers reasonable if not outstanding quality.
