  • The biggest gripe I had with Norton performance-wise was never its scanning speed but the unavoidable system bloat caused partly by the memory-hungry components and partly by the lack of configuration that prevented you from disabling the features you don't want (something that gave the equally bloated McAfee the edge). When the virus scanner is using 3 times more RAM than the applications there's something amiss. I'll stick with Avast! though. Nice, simple, compact if a little ugly, free and with a better detection rate and best of all - no spam filters, parental controls, firewalls or anything else I don't need built into my virus scanner. • Personally, I am very happy using norton 360 v3. Best part is, that i can't even sense that it is eating into my applications memory and yet so much effective. It detected the pinfi virus within seconds from my deadly virus stuck system and helped me clean it up very quickly. I am rest assured with the 24*7 support I got with norton, that I am safe in the hands of symantec. Posted by MK, India
  • you can get exactly the same functionality from FREE software

Comodo.com and Avast and AVG for example.
