  • Sorry, not a review but a comment relating to the original turbo.264 has issues with the current rev of eye TV (rev 3.1.1.1) in as much as the sound isn't saved when you use turbo.264 with eye TV 3.1.1. A fix is downgrade to eye TV 3.1 and ignore the 'do you want to upgrade' messages. Elgato do mention this bug in the support forums but not in their 'what's new notes' for eye TV 3.1.1 ... • Product is completely useless because every avi file that I try to convert for the AppleTV has significant out of sync audio problems. After researching this issue further, I have come to discover that MANY other users are having the same problem. Apparently, Elgato is trying to fix the problem but have not been able to do so yet. • Some Turbo users (like pwfletcher above) have experienced sync issues with mal-formed AVI files. We have addressed this issue in an update to the Turbo software. A beta version is available now*, and the release version will be ready shortly.

  • Thats all very well except the beta version you mention still has way out of sync audio on the very first video we converted.. It starts off just out of sync and ends up many seconds out of sync. So still not fixed the terrible audio sync problems.. even in 103b17_826

This audio sync problem has been going on so long that if it isnt fixed soon. We will have to look for alternative products.

  • I have the same serious out of sync problem as Edward Hirst. It is not a problem with the source files. When I convert the same source files with Handbrake, there are no sync problems. So far, Elgato programmers have not been able to resolve the problem, and is still treating it as an isolated problem. From my search on the web, this is a wide spread problem which Elgato has failed to resolve for a long time, and remains unresolved.

  • I am having the same annoying problems with audio.

    I am VERY disappointed.

  • Same here. Bought it today and have tried various input files and output formats. All out of sync. VisualHub and Handbrake both work fine on the same files. On my 2.4Ghz iMac, it speeds the proccess up for HD video at least 3x, but the videos are unwatchable.

And from what I have seen on the forums, I am a little worried it is a hardware issue. Users are reporting using the Turbo.264 HD software without the stick and the video comes out ok. I have another 13 days for Elgato to fix this, otherwise the thing goes back.

  • I am having the very same issue. I make recordings with eyetv, drop the files directly from eyetv into turbo.264 hd software and run exports on apple tv setting. The source of the file is on an external hard drive running firewire 800 and i save the exported file to the internal hard drive.

Every single export, the audio starts almost perfectly in sync and by the end of the recordings its about 2 seconds out. Completly unwatchable and absolute rubbish as both handbrake and eyetv can do the exports without any out of sync audio.

What is the deal elgato? $150 bucks for this rubbish!!!! could buy a crap old laptop dedicated to exporting for this sorta money!

Worst still i bought it from america to save money cause here in aussie land they want to charge $240 smackas!

    Work it out!
