  • Very pleased with purchase of my Pentax K-m. Intuitive layout and controls. Lots of options. Excellent image quality (in my humble opinion). Am also using two manual lenses successfully and shake reduction works with these too(one from the original Pentax KM from the 1970's). It's compact and fits into a work bag.

  • This is a great review, Doug, but I do want to disagree on one point.

I suspect that you're in the minority in regard to your creative uses of flash, assuming that the market comprises those people who are new to SLR photography. They'll probably concentrate most on exposure, composition, and the opportunities offered by the selection of lenses. For use of an external light source, most of that market will be perfectly happy with the included unit or would step up to an inexpensive external flash like the VIvitar 285hv. Lots of room to learn about flash photography with the latter unit for only about USD $100.

Me? I'm waiting for a K20 replacement that has the autofocus and noise management improvements of the K2000/k-m. It sounds as if you're feeling about the same way.

Thanks again for the thoughtful review, Doug.
