  • I second most of the review above, but I have a few complaints: The shortcomings don't affect the primary objective, which is findin my way from here to there. And the map updates have my GO more current than Google or MapQuest.

    1. The 'on-the-deck' mounting ability is necessary, because the suction-cup windshield mount drops the unit on the floor unless it's mounted resting on the dash. A $500 toy that won't stay where you put it is a design flaw in my book.

    2. The FM transmitter works OK for voice navigation instructions, but is lacking for playing MP3 files as advertised. If your MP3 is low volume, there is not enough modulation gain to make it audible at highway speed.

    3. An audio input that doesn't require an iPod (and a $30 USD cable) would have been nice-- any old MP3 player could then be used with the FM transmitter to play music or books to the car sound system, and the modulation level could be controlled by the volume level of the input device. .

    All that having been said, I still wonder how I got along before I had it…
