Quick review

The good: Robust construction, 5x optical zoom, user-friendly set-up and operational menus, fast and responsive
The bad: Zoom disabled in video, not Full HD, white balance performance variable, lower light affects reliability of iA, lens surround prone to scuffs and scratches over time
Verdict: Ultimately the feeling you’re left with after handling the FX40 is, whilst perfectly acceptable viewed standalone, there’s simply not enough about it to stand out from the crowd
