Quick review

The good
Lets you watch television on your iPhone/iPod touch - full control over your Slingbox
The bad
No 3G streaming, iPhone/iPod touchscreen not widescreen, controls are basic
Verdict
Certainly worth considering if you want to stream content from your TV in the lounge to somewhere in the house or elsewhere on the globe

  • Is it still the case that Sling refuse to support the older Slingbox Classic in the app? Posted by GK, UK
  • This is probably the best £18 I've ever spent. I use an iPod Touch around the house the this puppy lets me watch output from my DVR and Apple TV as well as it's own built-in Freeview tuner. The way it dynamically adjusts the speed negating dropouts and lips sync is very clever, not just on my 54G home WiFi but also 3G when I use with my Nokia E51 with a nitty bit of software called Joikuspot that turns my phone into a WiFi hotspot.

PS - I seem to recall reading the orignal Slingbox can be used but is not technically supported with this app?

  • GK, this has never been the case. I bought this app the day it was first released and it worked right away with my Slingbox Classic.

Or are you actually talking about support as in helpdesk?
