  • Why is the battery life a bad thing? i thought the amoled display is very economical and the video playback runs 5 hours... Posted by David, USA
  • David - taking the i8910 as a phone, the battery life isn't great, which is why I say "bad". Yes, the AMOLED screen is more efficient, but like the iPhone, all that connectivity and screen real estate does mean you can't roam too far from a power supply. Posted by chrishall, United Kingdom
  • How can the review of the N97 slam the interface and yet on the i8910 it doesn;t appear to affect the score depite the cluncky Samsung widget implementation? Posted by Stephen, United Kingdom
  • When you say the i8910 isn't better than the iphone, you are only basing on the UI. I don't think I the UI is the only factor to determind whether a phone is good or not. There are many other factors to be considered such as the screen quality, Video quality (the iphone doesn't even take video except the iphone 3Gs), the camera quality, the browser, texting, internal and external memory etc. Just my comment. • Stephen and Thomas, thanks for your comments. I think you almost address each other's comments here. Yes, the N97 and the i8910 both run the S60 OS, but a phone is more than just an operating system as Thomas says.

Samsung are pushing movies on the i8910, both watching and capturing, something it does very well, so much so, that you can forgive some of the quirks in the OS. I mention the iPhone because it still stands as an example of an intuitive UI, with great integrated App support. As Duncan points out in his N97 review, the S60 support is not that type of experience, and the same is true here, but with Nokia pushing out a flagship device as anticipated as the N97, you sort of expect them to push the Symbian OS that they lead further.

  • will anyone please explain to me if there are differing versions of the i8910 phone on the market!
i purchased a sim free one and the menu system is identical to nokia
yet i8910 i see being reviewed seems to have a totally different menu system!!
near enough identical to the tocco phone!
is there a setting i have overlooked or are there different versions or do i need to download the tocco version?
