  • Being only ordinary folk, we found the instructions a nightmare. No matter where we searched could not find how to format the SD card as the instructions asked to do. We got in such a mess that we fitted another new SDcard to try and get to a" start again situation".
The instruction are bitty & fragmented and for us the camera is not the simple and easy device to set up & use device we thought we were buying!

  • Bought this for taking holiday video.

It is very easy to use, light, small and has good video and sound quality for the price.
I find myself carrying it around with me at all times and film things that I would not normally be able to. Really good.

Drag and drop files to PC/MAC is a bonus.

The problem is like with all Xacti, image stabilization. Quite bad if you want to make good use of the image quality that this camera produces. If your at home you can use a tripod but if your traveling you need steady hands

All in all I would recommend this camcorder.

  • No offense Brian, but you are very stupid. You click "MENU". Then you click "FORMAT SD CARD"

Make sure your in advanced Menu mode, and not normal..

    This camera is great.

  • Please help. When I play back my video recordings onto PC in HD mode it is very poor ie the sound is fine but the video is awful. If I record in normal mode then it goes away. It is as though the computer is too slow. Posted by sean seabourne, uk
  • I am really, really happy with this camera - easy to pick up and use straight from the box. Good quality, crisp video. Instructions and menu are simple to navigate - Yeah, sorry Brian Glaves, Tim from the USA is right, I think the problem is with the user - and Sean Seabourne, get the latest media player from the windows site and download the latest MP4 codecs; your video should run real smooooooth. Make sure your PC/videocard are adequate too. Go get it people!!! Posted by Scott F., UK
  • I agree, all in all, it's a good little camcorder for the money, and the price is dropping. Even if Sanyo has a new one round the corner, this is a good compromise between super HQ images and file size. The highest definition devices can be very hungry on storage space, for no real visible benefit. Image quality is very good for day to day use. The still picture mode is about the best in the range and it produces images of comparable quality to most point and click pocket cameras. Colour saturation is also good too. It is perhaps a little on the slow side in low light conditions but I can live with that - how ofter does one really want to film video in the dark? It also has a small flash unit which has three settings in still picture mode. Simple to use and file transfer in Linux, Mac or even Windoze is easy-peasy!
