The good
HD playback support, cheap, small
The bad
USB sockets too close together, only good for surfing the Internet and playing low rent games
Verdict
This is no gaming rig, but as a media server for your TV, now that's another matter

  • You would do us all a terrific favour if you could put this through its paces with respect to the UK's various streaming services: BBC iPlayer (both SD and HD), 4oD, Demand Five, ITV, etc. The killer app for this box is absolutely a media player as you say, but since most of these services use Flash video (or Silverlight to a lesser extent) and the Flash/Silverlight runtimes are not currently optimised for GPUs, it will be interesting to see how well they perform on this box. I believe testing of Hulu with the Nvidia Ion reference platform has not been hopefully in this regard. Posted by James Webster, United Kingdom
  • when we get in the final retail unit - we'll see what it can do James, good idea though, keep 'em coming. Posted by stuartmiles, United Kingdom
  • Ok, one more then. Turn it into a Hackintosh and see if you can run the Plex Media Centre! Posted by James Webster, United Kingdom
  • I'd like to see how it performs fairly standard tasks with photo editing apps like Lightroom and Photoshop. Posted by NoodleUnit, Scotland, UK
  • good article , I do like the netbook very much , as for most of the time , we use computer just for some basic function such as surf the web , do some document and so on, so the netbook can fully meet our needs with more smaller size and lightweight . Posted by anndy, CN
