  • Given the shortcomings described, 8/10 seems a rather generous score.
The lack of 3G connectivity is a serious oversight; the whole point of these devices is portability and accessibility (to the internet) and having to rely on WiFi and bluetooth for connectivity is disappointing. The poor trackpad should also see this netbook marked down.

Plus points for build, spec and performance but too biased towards a good movie-watching and listening experience and insufficient all-round capability at this price point.

  • I toyed with the score for some time, but HP are pitching these models towards business, whilst the Compaq lines are heading towards consumers. Yes, there is no 3G and I think the shortcomings of this move come across in the text of the review.

But some people, especially business travellers who are going to be going from airport to hotel to meetings, this fulfils the aim of being portable and good quality. For some this will be ideal and an 8 would be warranted.

Hopefully this is clear in the review - different people will view the pros and cons in a different light.
