Quick review

The good
HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, DivX support, Symbian S60 3rd edition interface
The bad
D-pad takes some getting used to, big, we've seen no real advantage to the 8 megapixels over 5 megapixels
Verdict
Yes, the Samsung i8510 is feature-packed, offering virtually all you could want from a consumer-focused mobile phone, but the downside is the size
Key specs
3G, 8 megapixels, Bluetooth, FM radio, GPRS, GPS, GSM, HSDPA, Li-ion battery, microSD, MP3 player, Wi-Fi

  • once mobiles have optical zoom and proper flash as standard - then they may replace the compact camera Posted by water logged kimono, ewe kay
  • Why all this obsession with size these days ? It's really NOT a big phone unless you're into the super-skinny fashion accessories. If you have big hands (like most men), it's an ideal fit for holding and you're not mis-hitting tiny keys designed for size-zero anorexics when you try dialling or texting.

This is my first non-Nokia phone since 1999, and I really like it. Give it a couple of months for programmers to start creating new apps or modifying existing apps to work on it (the perils of being an early-adopter with a new version of the Symbian OS/feature pack is that the software has to catch up) and it'll be absolutely class-topping.
