  • Just a word of warning about these:

I bought one of these quite a while back now the day it came out - turns out it doesn't support 1360x768 (aka 1366x768) resolution TVs, making it (with the TV tuner addon card and a drive) a £500 paperweight for me personally.

If your TV has a standard native HD resolution (720p or 1080i/p) you'll be fine - but as my 1366x768 TV already has built-in freeview, for me using it over an analogue input would be too much of a sacrifice unfortunately :(

I wrote to the company asking if they might include this in a future update - unfortunately for me they said no they won't, so I guess it stays in the box until I upgrade my TV one day :(

  • Think very carefully before purchasing this unit. I own the previous model (the 4130) and though it promises the world, poor firmware means it's performance is buggy is some areas of flat out doesnt work.

I purchased with the intent of ripping my dvd collection with the understanding it could play dvd iso images. It can't without falling over and, a year after purchase, there is no firmware fix in sight. I have the suspicion that dvico is too small to devote resources to anything except the latest model and have abandoned the old line. Don't expect support too far into the future.

  • The most recent firmware has fixed a lot of issues, and the pricing at least in the US has dropped - for the 1 TB drives too.

Check out the following for example:

    DVICO 6500A

I think perhaps the review needs updating.
