Does this budget camera perform?

The good: Price, waterproof case in box
The bad: Exposure, on-board flash too powerful, shutter lag, colours flat, build quality
Verdict: The image quality is too poor except in ideal conditions to recommend this camera: you may as well stick with your phone camera
Key specs: 5 megapixels

I have got one of these (for use underwater) and as the article states, the pictures are fine for publishing on sites such as Facebook. The 15m depth is great for snorkeling and scuba diving. Great camera for the price Posted by Paul, England
I love my vivitar, paid £15 on ebay, it's been to Hawaii and Portugal with me. It has a video mode as well. Yes the shutter lag is long and lens quality isn't great and there is some distortion, but if you learn to use it's faults and just snap away, you'll get good creative results. I love that it comes with a waterproof case, great for not only underwater pics but just messing around in the water, I would never pay the rrp for it though! Posted by Simon, UK

I recently purchaced the 5399 and so far so good,however I do have one problem and that is I can't access the flash.The icon keeps disappearing from the view screen,can you help? Posted by Chris, UK
