Quick review

The good
Price, 720p video, good still snapper
The bad
Lack of memory, images on the cold side, struggles in lower light conditions, audio quality, no lens cover, no memory in box
Verdict
Sacrifices have been made to reach this price, but for filming the kids in the garden, then the Toshiba Camileo Pro HD represents great value for money
Key specs
5 megapixels, Li-ion battery, SD, SDHC, USB

  • Just to let everyone know that the reviewer has got it wrong above!!
It does accept SDHC cards - but the limit is 4gb -
so don't ".....get the biggest card you can afford...."
as it will only store up to 4gb and you will have wasted the rest-
    as i did when i bought a 32gb sdhc.
thanks Chris Hall for not doing your homework!!!

  • what's the quality of the HD video on a LCD television screen? Posted by Hans, holland
  • I can't imagine that 4GB is the maximum. Maybe you mean maximum 4GB in one session without switching off the camera?

  • And be aware! You get a sharper image which also means a sharper image of the compression artifacts. But from 2+ meters from the LCD TV screen these are hardly noticable. Posted by John, Belgium
  • This says has hdmi. read another review that said up to 32gb was ok

  • Our pc magazine "PCchip" said that the cam is picky about the SD cards that you use, but there is no limit when it comes to capacity... Posted by D22, Croatia
  • Im looking for a cheap cam to film video testimonials for my site... would this do the job? Reasonable quality.. Posted by Brian, uk
  • I can't seem to get the camera to access the SD card either an 8 or 4gb version. It will just show "INT", does anyone know how one can change this?

Otherwise I really enjoy using it.

  • Toshiba Camileo Pro Camcorder will only take up to 4gb card, the Toshiba Camileo Pro HD Camcorder will take all cards up to 32gb. A lot of people seem to get the two models mixed up. Posted by Mark H, UK (YORKSHIRE)
  • I have a 16gb SDHC in my Camileo PRO HD - works fine with it. Posted by Dan Lawrence, UK
  • Im not impressed with the fact that there is no facility to pause recordings, hence because you have to STOP video recordings you end up with lots of seperate video files, making it very difficult to transfer to DVD Posted by Col A, England
