  • I don't rate this armadillo. I had four punctures on my rear wheel with an Infinity Armadillo this fortnight. Meanwhile my standard front tyre had none. Puncture resistant it is not!! Posted by Clare, UK
  • Clare's punctures are probably because she pinched the tube. I've had my Armadillos 4 years in London - puncture free both wheels, they're the best! Posted by Vicky, London, UK
  • 2 punchers a week cannot be the tyres fault! Posted by Jonny, UK
  • That's strange to hear of a problem of this magnitude. I have literally sat down and dug pieces of glass and metal shards out of the Armadillos and still swear by them. Posted by chrishall, United Kingdom
  • Super tires! I drive on them for 4 years under harsh conditions. No flats so far. Even long trips with a lot of baggage on bad surface are no problem for the Amardillo. Posted by Kaj , Holland
  • anyone experiencing multiple punchers with these either most likely have them set up incorrectly (i.e pinched inner tube) or have something inside the tire that is causing the flat.

I've done THOUSANDS of miles on these through all weathers on london's roads, over many a patch of road covered with shattered car windows and never one punchture. I'm finally replacing them because the rubber is now literally coming off the side wall.

  • I bought one of these about six months ago for my front wheel which was picking up broken glass with monotonous regularity and leaving me with flat tyres. Having covered something in the vicinity of two thousand miles since fitting it I have yet to have a puncture on either wheel. My only niggle with these tyres is a slightly vague sensation in terms of road surface feedback, otherwise I am certain to buy another when the rear tyre wears out. I have doubts if the front ever will as there is little detectable wear at present. Posted by Nick, Australia
  • am about to put my first pair of Armadillo's onto my bike - two punctures in two weeks i've had enough. But £48! blimey. Posted by Dan Weldon, UK
  • my armadillos are 6 months old front and rear both have split all the way round the tyre wall but still no punctures is this normal Posted by clive, england
  • Clive - the sets that I've had have lasted much longer. After several years and 1000s of miles the sidewalls did start to dry out. It might be worth looking at the pressure you have them pumped up to - I run mine pretty close to the maximum I can, a lower pressure would result in the tyre rolling from side to side a putting pressures on the sides. • Dan - just think of the time you'll save not having to make repairs. Ultimately it was this that led me to buying my first set of Armadillos and I've never looked back. I've broken more inner tube valves than I have had punctures! Posted by chrishall, United Kingdom
  • thanks chrishall is the maximum you can more than 90 p.s.i? Posted by clive, england
  • Around 90-100 is what I'd normally go for, but I'd imagine it depends on the size of tyre you have. If they are the 700 x 23c and you have been at 90psi, then I don't know what the cause of the splitting would be. Harsh conditions, too much UV exposure from being in the sun, or very cold conditions would also deteriorate the tyres at a faster rate, but unlikely in UK climate.

The other possibility would be a part of your brake blocks touching the tyre, but it seems unlikely.

  • I have used these tyres for the last 4 years on road and mountain bikes. Although the roll is a little impaired the sheer durability is unbeatable. For trouble free cycling with the least hang-up use them! Posted by Chris Tomkins, UK
  • I use a pair of 700 x 28's by Armadillo and they're bombproof so far. Really great tyres, no problems to fit and they suffer hardly any damage to the treads. Posted by Bob Hinds, England
