JVC introduced a new compact-style MiniDV video camera, the GR-DA20, at IFA 2007.

It offers a unique vertical sliding LCD monitor, 34x optical zoom, an AUTO Button that switches the camera instantly between manual and automatic operation, and "Wide Mode" for 16:9 aspect ratio recording.

JVC technologies such as the Super High-Band Processor and 3D Noise Reduction claim to extend the camera’s horizontal resolution, reduce flicker and enhance colour reproduction, while the Digital Colour NightScope function allows high quality shooting in low-light conditions.

For the first time JVC have used a 2.4-inch "Vertical Sliding LCD Monitor" that can be positioned in a range of angles for greater viewing freedom.

The GR-DA20 boasts a 34x optical zoom and an 800x digital zoom which means images should be able to be enlarged up to 34 times without jagged edges or noise.

Wide Mode means at the touch of a button, the aspect ratio for recording is changed from standard (4:3) to the wide screen (16:9) size, ideal for viewing on flat panel displays.

The GR-DA20 has a new "Stick Control" which provides quick access to the camera's functions with a four-way control on the LCD door.

The camcorder has a 115-minute Data Battery and you can press the "DATA" button to find out how much juice you've got left to avoid going flat mid-filming.

The GR-DA20 also boasts DV output and an array of digital picture effects. Pricing and availability to be confirmed.
