Ectato's iTravl is a hands-free and "eyes-free" speech recognition based two-way and nine language communication system.

Features of interest to tourists include built-in Fodor's travel guide for 50 major destinations across five continents and an audio guide to major museums.

The translation functionality comes in the form of a two-way full text translation system from English to Chinese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and vice versa.

It has 1,600,000 words in the audiovisual dictionary including general words, idioms, medical, technical, legal, business terms, as well as slang and useful expressions.

So, instead of looking up a word, which you can still do, you can speak the word you want translated and the speech recognition software will give you the equivalent translation.

There are 63,000 phrases that the device can recognise and speak back to you.
