Plug protoype shows you the money you're wasting on electricity

A couple of clever designers have created the prototype for a plug that tries to raise awareness of how much electricity we're consuming.

The back of the plug shows the projected cost of an appliance if it's used for a year, and it gives the cost in plain, simple pounds.

It's hoped that if people can see clearly the amount of money they're spending on their appliances, they'll be more likely to be vigilant about turning them off.

A central adapter adds up the cost of all its surrounding plugs to give an easy-to-read total value.

Fused was awarded a Red Dot “Best of the Best” Award, amongst other accolades.
