4 December 2008 16:26 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Congrats to John B from the UK for winning the comment competition we ran in November.

John commented on the "Intel boss says netbooks only good for an hour" story.

But fret ye not readers, this month we've got another tasty prize for you to be in with a chance of winning.

Casio is kindly offering its 40 frames per second digital camera - the EX-FH20 - to the person that comes up with the best comment in December.

The EX-FH20 sports a 9.1-megapixel sensor, 20x optical zoom and a 3-inch LCD screen.

Users can record beautiful movies at a screen size of 1280 x 720 pixels, at a rate of 30 frames per second. The camera can be connected to an HD television.

The EXILIM Pro EX-FH20 costs around £499.99.

As well as the chance to win the camera via Pocket-lint Casio are offering a lucky winner the chance to win an amazing Safari holiday to try and capture all the animals on the Savannah. To enter you simply need to visit www.missnothing.co.uk

The rules of the competition are simple, you can enter as many times as you like by simply commenting on any story. At the end of the month we will pick the best comment and they will get a prize.

You don't have to sign up to comment on the stories, we just ask for your name, location and email address - that does not show up online and is not passed on.

We will be contacting you via email so make sure you use the right one in the form when you file a comment.

So what you waiting for? Get commenting...

This month's competition will end on the 1st January.

  • I am looking for a new all-in-one printer, such as the Epson PX700 or the Canon Pixma 630.
I look up the information on pocket-lint.co.uk, then go to the web-site of the item, such as Epson and Canon.
I like the Epson all-in-one but there is more information about the Canon Pixma 630 on the Canon web site and has a video of what the item can do, such as scan to memory card and to PFD format.

Please note there is a video link on the Epson web-site - but the link does not work.

  • I think that this is a far more realistic camera than their other offering. 9mp seems tooffer the right balance between definition and useability. Unfortunately Casio remains out of the big league of camera makers partly because they need to have a high end lens up front but it's a brave idea to find a niche in the market that will allow many analyse motion at a reasonable cost. What is the CCD size? It is up against competition from Canon and Nikon, but the 40 FPS is a plus for some appliactions.

  • The Casio EX-FH20 certainly seems an excellent piece of kit. I'm wondering what the power consumption is like at 40 FPS?

Does it come with its own built in fast breeder reactor or two suitcases to carry your spare batteries in?

  • I read recently that researches have made a major breakthrough with the ability to send electricity through the air. The recorded distance of 60 miles is the main factor in success. This research of this method was approached by the need to capture Solar energy. The energy consumption can only reach optimum efficiency if the panels are placed outside Earth's atmosphere. The length is exactly 60 miles to be precise so testing will begin shortly. The reason I ask is because I have interest in the probability of magnetic disturbance. Is it possible that this may cause destruction to our environment? The electromagnetic forces that may very well be effected could even damage our cameras in particular. If anyone has any further information on the technology feel free to contribute. I find it fascinating beyond belief, but I'd like to know the dangers involved prior to its use. Thank you. • The EX-FH20 looks easy to use for novices - yet has a raft of features to keep the more accomplished photographers as happy as Larry (my mate’s called Larry and he’s always happy).
Just looking at the spec; the camera seems to have something for everyone: For example -
Its anti-shake function should keep Shakin Stevens rock steady whilst he takes pictures of “This ole House” and Snow White will be less than Grumpy knowing she can select from seven speed burst settings – a feature that “dwarfs” the camera’s competition.
With the camera’s high power, wide angle zoom lens - Fat Fighter’s Marjorie Dores will now be able to take a “larger-than-life” class photo without slicing the edge off anyone. And with 9.1 mega pixels it could be blown up to super-size and be stuck on a billboard!!!
It looks like Tony Hawks and all those Skater dudes will be able to record their tricks & jumps in incredible detail due to the camera’s “faster than the human eye” ultra high speed movie recording (at up to 1000fps). Watch out You-tube for some really impressive slo-mo Ollie footage once they splash their cash on this beauty.
Even the “creatures of the night” seem to be catered for. But it’s a shame Vampires can’t be photographed - because if they could, they would surely be ‘fangs’ of the camera’s Night Setting which allows high speed night shots to come out in superb detail.
Finally, the 20x optical zoom is a must for Bill Oddie so he can sit in a bush getting close ups of all those birds – perhaps he should take up Ornithology instead!!
In a nutshell – it’s a bargain and I’d sure snap one up if I’m not lucky enough to win it.

  • Charles D. McKinley, 25, of Brooklyn, N.Y., had four weeks of vacation coming, so he decided to visit his parents in DeSoto, Texas. Rather than buy a plane ticket for $320, McKinley, a shipping clerk, packed himself into a shipping crate and air-expressed himself home, charging the fees to his employer. When the crate was delivered to his parents' front step, McKinley pushed out of the box and shook hands with the "shaken and frightened" delivery driver.

if i'd have done this i'd be stuck in the royal mail sorting depot until march

  • Casio cameras?? At least we can be assured that the time and date stamp on the photo's will be correct, I think!

On a serious note, Casio have lived up to their company philosophy by producing yet another innovative product that, on face value, seems a real contender for the big players in the camera market.
    Posted by Simon G, UK
  • Why oh why oh why? Yet another company trying their hands at something they don't have any history of!

You wouldn't buy a computer made by Cadburys. So, when there are so many specific camera brands in the market has some genius at Casio figured they'd join in? Clearly someone in product development was having an off day.

    Stick to calculators and watches!
