Apple has revealed the top downloads for its iTunes App Store, both for paid-for and for free applications for the iPhone and iPod touch.

The most popular paid-for application is Koi Pond, which turns your iPhone into a virtual fish pond, complete with virtual Japanese fish and the ability to ripple the water and push lily pads across the screen.

The most downloaded free app was iPint, an application that was a viral for Carling that uses the device's accelerometer to make it appear as if a pint of beer on the phone's screen is being drunk.

Eight of the top ten paid applications were games, while the top free downloads were more of a mix with Facebook, Google Earth and Shazam all proving popular.

The top 10 paid for apps were:
