Not to be outdone by the rest of the industry, Lenovo has introduced a netbook.

The new IdeaPad S10e is designed for those all-important "mobile users" and offers a 10.1-inch LED backlit screen, all weighing in at under 1.2kg.

Designed as a "lightweight mobile PC for customers in all segments", there's "basic functionality" for word processing and what's said to be "light" multimedia capabilities.

Choices of operating systems include Microsoft Windows XP Home, XP Pro or Novell SLED 10 Linux.

The impatient among us will be happy to note the Instant On feature, while the Atom-powered device also offers a webcam, and either a 4GB SSD or 160GB hard drive.

Connectivity comes in with Ethernet, an ExpressCard slot, Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth.

The IdeaPad S10e netbook will be available in red, white and black starting at the end of November through Lenovo and its partners. Prices will start at £299.
