The University of Oxford has released statistics relating to its iTunes U content, citing success since its debut in the first week of October.

The University of Oxford has the number one spot in the global iTunes U top download chart thanks to the popularity of Joseph Stiglitz's podcast about the credit crunch.

And - Oxford has nine podcasts in the top 30. The Open University, another of the UK bodies to offer content via iTunes U, issued a statement that they'd hit the one million downloads mark recently.

The University of Oxford has also revealed that in the first week of its content being available there were 168,000 visitors to the site and 60,000 downloads.

This free site features public lectures, teaching material, interviews with leading academics, information about applying to the University, "and much more".
