Apple has confirmed that it will be announcing new laptops, on the Tuesday 14 October according to a number of US tech and gadget websites.

Sending out the invite, which has yet to be sent to UK publications, Apple simply states:

"The spotlight turns to notebooks"

The invite features a MacBook Pro in shadow.

Rumours started to surface at the beginning of the month that Apple would announce a new range of laptops based on a new manufacturing process described as the "brick" so called because the unit is made from a single sheet of metal.

The event, which will be deemed a "Town hall" event, will be held at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino at 10am Pacific time.

Pocket-lint will be covering the event 6pm in the UK.

We will keep you posted.

  • look at the picture, there is no keyboard there are no drives or plugs. This is a 15" itouch cloud computer that does everything WiFi. The basic version will start at $799 and up. Apple is showing us the future of computers like they showed us the future of phones. Posted by nikola, USA
  • just a guess, but i reckon its the lid. Jokes aside, it will be interesting to see if they ditch the Ethernet socket a la the MacBook Air, or bring out a netbook with a trimmed down OS Posted by stuartmiles, United Kingdom
