HTC Dream revealed as T-Mobile G1

Is this the world's first Android offering?

It's been rumoured for some time now that T-Mobile will be the first carrier to offer an Android handset, and it appears leaked sketches of the device have now been posted online.

AndroidGuys have the scoop on what's apparently called the G1 - but that industry watchers and Android fans may know better as the HTC Dream - a phone which may have also appeared on the US FCC site recently too, adding some weight to the rumour.

The Dream was said to be the handset that HTC, as founding members of the Open Handset Alliance, produced especially for Google to demo the Android mobile operating system on.

The supposedly 3G G1 is said to offer a QWERTY keyboard, a trackball, a "kicktail" design and has "With Google" on the back for some dual branding love.

HTC has confirmed to Pocket-lint that they plan to launch an Android handset before the end of the year, although no more information has officially been released by the company.
