Roxio Creator 2009, the latest version of the suite of photo, video, and music authoring, burning, and online sharing applications, has launched.

Roxio says Creator 2009 introduces "pioneering" audio features, integration of family-friendly online services, and support for high-definition video.

The suite includes direct access to Roxio Online, that the company describes as "a new digital storytelling platform" that lets users turn their photos and videos into slideshows that can be shared and viewed on PCs, DVDs, TVs, some handheld devices, and some social networking sites.

Audiobook Creator within the suite converts an entire audiobook into a single file with preserved chapter markers, for easier transfer to iPods or other MP3 players while also on the audio front, the new Beatmatching feature lets users to create music compilations of "perfectly synchronised cross fades".

Including direct links to tutorials and how-to articles, Roxio Creator 2009 will be available in stores worldwide this month and is available now directly from Roxio.co.uk for £49.99.

The high-def/Blu-ray disc plug-in - that lets users burn content to Blu-ray discs - will be sold as a downloadable component from the site at £14.99 although will be bundled free with the main suite when bought through Roxio.co.uk until 30 September.

  • This program popped up when I searched for blu-ray burning capability. The plugin give away is a clever idea. I've always liked the burning features in Roxio programs and it seems that they've added more advancements. I will seriously give this a look. Posted by TT Riley, USA
  • Every computer I owned came with roxio burning ware. The programs were easy to use. I see that the suites have a lot more to them. Also it looks like the program will have programs to link devices, tv, and the internet. I'm all for suites that have it all. I'm tired of looking for programs to handle every format just to view or convert. Hope this comes through. Posted by yemarn, United States
