The Tecra line-up from Toshiba is aimed at business users who need a tough machine that they can use whilst on the go.

And now the computer manufacturer has added two new models to the range.

The A10 and M10 models are both built around Intel's Centrino 2 vPro chipset.

In the 14-inch Tecra M10, you get up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM and Hard Disk Drive (HDD) capacities of up to 250GB.

The Tecra A10, which has the bigger 15-inch WSXGA+ TFT LCD display, and offers 8GB of DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD.

Each model also comes with a dual-layer Super Multi DVD drive, Bluetooth and wireless, and integrated 3G technology.

Both models ship with Microsoft Windows Vista Business edition as standard.

But the key features, reflecting that these models can be used whilst travelling, are the security options.

Both come with Toshiba EasyGuard which "combats the risk of data theft, virus attacks or hardware damage that can be increased by mobile computing".

So, in other words, you get hardware-based filtering of inbound and outbound network traffic, and a hardware-based "switch" that can disconnect the network data path or set a rate limit to contain threats more quickly.

The new laptops also come with finger-print recognition, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and advanced password options.

The Toshiba Tecra A10 and M10 will be on sale in the UK from Q3 2008, with the Tecra A10 series starting from £499 (+VAT), and the M10 series starting at £549 (+VAT).
