Philips has shown off a new version of its Aurea television ahead of IFA in Germany next month.

The new television will feature a new frame, this time made from glass, as well as the latest Philips flat screen technology as found in the 9000 range announced in February.

The new 9000 series, which itself is making its way to the UK in the next couple of weeks will offer the new Perfect Pixel HD Engine, the promise of the fastest Clear LCD refresh rates in the world at a speed of 2ms at 100Hz and 2.250 trillion colours in 1080p resolution.

The new range will go on sale in October, with a "from" price of around the £2500, £500 cheaper than the current model.

Expect more details next month from IFA.
