The rise in popularity of mobile broadband in the UK has been well documented, with the increasing figures mostly attributed to the ever-lowering costs of going online via cellular networks.

It seems that as well as contracts for such connectivity doing well, sales of prepay dongles have risen to 8000 per week in the UK.

Recently revealed GfK figures show that pre-pay USB modems have risen substantially from the start of the year, when around 1000 per week were being sold.

Although pre-pay mobile broadband offers consumers a flexible and relatively inexpensive way to get mobile broadband on the move, the hardware is not cheap, starting at around the £50 mark.

In total more than 30,000 dongles are now being sold each week in the UK across both the pre-pay and post-pay markets.
